On the login page, you will find a "forgot password" link. Clicking on this link will prompt you to enter your email address, which serves as your account name. After entering your email address and clicking "send," the system will send you an email with a password reset link. When you receive the email, simply click on the link and you will be able to choose a new password.
  7. How do I change my password?
To change your password, first click on your Profile link at the top of the page. Within your profile page, you will find a Reset Password link. Follow the prompts to change your password.
  8. What is my access code?
An access code is a set of numbers and letters that serves as your authorization to enter this system and create an account. Typically, you receive this code from your past employer or the organization that has sponsored your account. Once you have that access code, you can enter it on the login page and create a user name and password for yourself. Once you have a user name and password, you will no longer need your access code.
  9. What if I have lost my access code?
If you have lost your access code, you have a couple of options. First, you can talk to your job coach if you have one. They know how to get your access code. We are sure they would like to touch base with you anyway. Secondly, If you do not have a job coach, you can send email to info@nextjob.com with your name and the organization or individual who originally referred you here. We will then get your code to you as quickly as possible.
  10. Why does my access code not work?
Your access code may not work for several reasons:
    1. It could have timed out. You only have a certain amount of time to use your access code. If it times out, you can talk to your job coach about your options.
    2. You could have been given an incomplete access code or you could be entering the code incorrectly. Talk to your coach. If your access code came to you in an email, try to copy and paste it into the access code field. If you are entering it by hand, make sure your letter Os are Os, your zeros are zeros, your ones are ones and your letter Ls are Ls. Your access code is not case sensitive, so you do not have to worry about that at least.
    3. Your code could have been used by someone else that you know or do not know. Access codes are designed to work only for you. If someone else uses it, your coach can figure that out and set you up with another code.
  11. Why would I want to create a new resume or copy the selected resume?
You might want to create a new resume to apply for a specific job, a special type of employer, or to leave off certain information. For example, you might leave your address off a resume you want to post on a job board. You can either copy the Active Resume or start a new blank resume and recreate it from scratch.
  12. Can I simply copy one of the example resumes?
Yes and no. You cannot copy one into the NextJob Resume Builder. Part of the magic of creating a resume all your own is that you get the practice of thinking about your experience, skills, and accomplishments. It may be a little slower approach, but you will end up with a better product and a better understanding of yourself. You can copy one relevant line at a time out of a sample resume and into your own resume. If you do not like this answer, consider downloading a sample resume in word document form and editing that one. That is always an option.
  13. What if I do not like the format of my resume as it exports from the builder?
NextJob has a lot of research into the resume format that we produce. There has been lot of success by real job seekers using it, but sure, it may not be the perfect fit for every situation. For this reason, you can email the resume to yourself and modify it in MS Word or any other editor that will read a .docx file.
  14. How do I change the page break locations on my resume?
To manually set the page breaks in your resume, save your resume in the Word format or email it to yourself in the Word format. Then use your document editor to set the page breaks manually. Note that when you change data outside of the Resume Editor tool, you will not be able to get that data back into the resume editor, so it is a good idea to do this page break modification last.
  15. Where do I input my information in the resume?
A resume is a collection of several sections. For example, Contact, Summary and Notable Accomplishments. The Resume Editor contains a section for each of those. These sections all begin minimized on the page so that you can focus on a specific section that interests you at the time. Look for the expand and contract buttons. If you click on a section header, you will see input fields for that section. Click on a field and you will be able to input information into that field. Each section also exists on one or more pages in the resume editor training module pages. The expanded and contract functionality works there also.
  16. Can I email my resume?
Yes you can! You can send it to yourself or to anyone else that you like directly from the site. We recommend that when sending to someone else, you should first send it to yourself so that the mail to your intended recipient appears to be coming directly from you. It is more personal that way and a response will come right back to you.
  17. Can I change my account name from my old email address to my new email address?
Unfortunately, you cannot make this change directly. Your coach can however. If you do not have a coach, talk to support and we'll get it done for you. Remember that the email address that shows up on your resume is separate from the address that you use to log in. So, it may not be necessary to change your account name from one email address to another if you only want your resume to contain a different address.
  18. What is the benefit of having my resume in the system?
There are a few benefits to using this system, 1) your coach can help you with your resume, 2) it may help to have it in the system as you work through the resume training module and focus on each piece section by section, and 3) the system can create a PDF out of your resume which is a good format to send resumes to prospective employers.
  19. How do I build my resume?
Within the NextJob site, there are two ways to build your resume. The first is by following the resume training section pages sequentially and entering the components of your resume as the training talks about them. The second is by using edit resume which is simply all the sections from the resume training in one place so that you do not have to go to multiple pages to find each section. For some, this will be a more streamlined way to enter your resume. Otherwise, this tool is a good way to quickly review, update and modify the information in your resume that was collected during the training.
  20. Are Accomplishments the same as notable accomplishments and highlights?
Yes and no. The theory is that every job experience in your past will come with accomplishments. Those are important, but even more important are those few accomplishments that you are most proud of. You will enter all your accomplishments for all your positions and then sit back and look them over to find the most significant ones. Enter only those most notable ones into the notable accomplishment section. You may need to re-work an individual accomplishment statement to stand on its own in the notable accomplishment section. Look in the resume training module on highlighting your strengths for more detail.
  21. Where else can I get help?
Your coach is your first line of defense against the unknown. They know a lot and they love a challenge. See if you can stump them. If they do not know an answer, they'll know how to find it. If you do not have a coach, send your question to support@nextjob.com
